Monday - March 23
Students will be constructing two boxes (one with a lid and one without a lid). During this lab, students will be creating a formula that will maximize the volume of both boxes. Once students have finished their box, they will be decorating the outside based on a unit will have studied. These boxes will become our "review" boxes during exam time. Students who are absent this day should enjoy their time off but thank a peer during review time for their awesome boxes!
Tuesday - March 24
Students will have an opportunity to do Geometric Constructions during this day. We will be using the computers to help us draw geometric figures with just a compass and a straight edge. Their are six constructions students will be attempting. Each successful construction will earn the student one bonus point on an upcoming quiz. Students who are absent during this day will have this opportunity as well, they just will not have class time to start the assignment.

Wednesday - March 25
Our final day together before our "Spring Break" we will be proving the quadratic formula. Sounds fun doesn't it!! Students will explore how the formula came to be and why it works!
Also, we will be exploring projectile motion during this day by launching objects and finding their velocity and maximum height. We will then find the equation that models the path of the projectile. This will be done using games such as kickball, basketball, or maybe just throwing water balloons (weather depending!)
Students absent this day should find an object wherever they are and toss it a country mile and think how awesome parabolas and math can be!

Poor Grandma Ma passed away and has left us with a lot of land to start a new city. Today students will be setting up a City Council, Electing a Mayor, Dividing grandma's estate equally, and creating an efficient bus route for the towns new bus system. Students who are not present in class today can look over the assignment as well. It is posted here.
